Selfies have resulted into what’s called Narcissism. Narcissism is defined as a long-standing preoccupation with one’s self that creates an overwhelming need for admiration.
Psychologists have noticed a rise in narcissistic personality traits, insecurity, self-objectification, addiction, damaged friendships, body dysmorphic disorder, and depression, coinciding with the increase of selfies.
The increased ability to share selfies is opening the door to self-indulgent behaviors and even dangerous habits. More people have died from taking selfies than from shark attacks in 2015!
